These watercolor and acrylic ink pieces represent a new imaginative type of work for me. In the summer of 2023, I scouted the woods of Oregon, photographing the tall trees and lakes in the landscape. Then I made collages using my photographs and public domain images of fairies from the early 20th century. Lastly, I painted the images in watercolor and acrylic ink, using the collages as a guide. I wanted to capture the magical quality of light in the trees in Oregon, where the evergreens are the kings of the forest. So many little pine needles to paint! I hope I captured the majesty of a hot summer day in the Pacific Northwest.
